Definitely a thread where I want to know if a commenter has children or not. Before becoming parents many people have opinions about raising children that afterwards turn into understanding of actually why parents act the way they do.
But I still don't like the idea of this tablet at all, for various reasons, mainly screen time, developmental impact, subscription & ads and vendor lock-in.
Edit: yes, I have children. They don't think they have enough screentime and we think they have too much. Probably means it's about right.

My recommendation to anyone having kids is have a zero tolerance policy for babies under 2 looking at a screen. The second you start allowing it a bit, you find moments when your life would be just so much easier if you put on a show. It’s brutal to have to find ways to keep them entertained at times, but not having the option is the only way to avoid using it too much.

Get kids an old computer. They prefer something big they can see, with switches that make a resounding clunk, and drives that make clanking noises.
To a kid, playing games from the 1980s off a floppy disk is not a significantly difficult experience than using the very latest technology, but I suspect the former is far better for their developing brains.
Meanwhile, you can get them to learn how to type on the keyboard and learn the basics of needing to type in commands to make the computer do something, which is a lifelong skill - tapping icons on a tablet is not.

Giving serious Black Mirror vibes with that. Specifically Common People https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_People_(Black_Mirror)
